Woody’s Place isn’t just a holiday rental. It’s where my family has lived for over 50 years. We’ve had four generations grow up here, and we’re proud to now share this special spot with visitors. The first house on the property was built in 1965 and we rebuilt it in 1996 to make it what it is today.
The name “Woody’s Place” comes from our family name, Woodgate. My grandfather was always called Woody, and my grandmother became known as Mrs Woody. Since I lived with them for many years, people started calling me Young Woody. The name stuck, and it felt right to carry it forward.
We live downstairs in the other unit, so we’re nearby if you ever need a hand or want some tips on what to do and see around Soldiers Point.
You’ll be staying in the upstairs unit, which is at street level and has no stairs. You can drive right up to the front door, and there’s a covered parking area for two cars just a couple of metres away, making it easy to unload your bags.
Woody’s Place is a large, modern home with wide open living spaces and plenty of natural light. It has three spacious bedrooms, all with built-in wardrobes and views of the water. There’s a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and electric appliances, an open plan living and dining area, plus a second lounge with a TV for the kids.
The main bathroom has handrails and a shower chair, making it easier for guests with limited mobility. You’ll also have a laundry with a front-loader washing machine, and we provide a portable cot and high chair if you’re travelling with little ones. Linen and bath towels are supplied. Just remember to bring your own beach towels.
Outside, the large deck is set up with a BBQ and dining area, perfect for relaxing in the fresh air and soaking up the view.
Our place is just 10 metres from the water’s edge. Out the front is a grassy council reserve where kids can run around safely. There’s a path down the side of the house that gives you easy access to the beach and the bay.
The location is peaceful, and the view is something special. You’ll often spot dolphins swimming by, and the sunsets here are absolutely stunning. The house faces north, so you get sunshine all day and a cool sea breeze in the afternoon.
Soldiers Point is one of the quieter areas of Port Stephens. It’s only 10 minutes from Nelson Bay and Shoal Bay, where you’ll find shops, restaurants, the Carnival / Mardi-Gra atmosphere is a place where you can have fun, then return back to Woody’s to relax.
The property was designed by an architect to make the most of the views and breeze. It’s bright, airy, and made for relaxing. The property was designed by an architect to make the most of the views and breeze. It’s bright, airy, and made for relaxing.
